Sofidel broke ground on a $775 million expansion at its Inola factory

Public Radio Tulsa reported on June 5, 2026 that Sofidel had broken ground on a major expansion at its Port of Inola tissue factory. The plan adds about one million square feet and is valued at $775 million. A portable restroom trailer trailer could support authorized construction crews working on a large industrial site where permanent facilities are not yet available.

Sofidel’s existing factory opened in Inola in 2020. The report said the expansion is expected to add 185 jobs, while the existing site employed about 550 people at the time; those figures are reported estimates, not a statement that all new positions are already filled.

Sofidel finalized its Inola expansion plan in March 2026

Sofidel’s March 11, 2026 release set out a $775 million expansion at its integrated Inola site. The project includes a new building for a 75,000-tonne-per-year tissue machine, converting lines, and a larger pulp and parent-reel warehouse. A contractor sleeper trailer could support authorized crews during the extended construction and commissioning schedule.

The company projected that the new machine would start up in the second quarter of 2028. That is a future target from the company’s announcement, while the later June groundbreaking confirms that construction began.

Automation is part of the Inola plant’s October 2026 expansion update

E80 Group’s October 12, 2026 announcement describes automated logistics planned for Sofidel’s Inola expansion, including a high-density warehouse with up to 100,000 unit-load positions and laser-guided vehicles linking production to storage. A temporary shower-restroom trailer could suit authorized installation crews working across the large warehouse and production footprint.

The update describes a facility being expanded, not a warehouse already operating. It adds current technical detail to the June groundbreaking and the company’s March investment plan without implying that EZE supplied the project.

Inola High School’s 120-by-120-foot training center was nearing completion

Inola Public Schools reported in July 2025 that construction was well underway on a 120-by-120-foot indoor baseball and softball facility. The bond- and grant-funded building was designed with batting cages and pitching tunnels so teams could practice in poor weather. A portable handwashing station station could serve an authorized outdoor school event or future grounds project.

The district expected the project to finish by the end of August 2025. That forecast is from the construction update; it does not independently confirm a final opening date.

Inola’s 2026 street plan pairs asphalt work with a sidewalk

The INCOG FY 2026 REAP list describes a two-inch asphalt overlay on parts of 16th Street and Russell Avenue, plus a five-foot sidewalk along Russell between 16th and 15th streets. The project combines pavement maintenance with a pedestrian connection. A portable restroom trailer could serve an authorized paving crew working early starts along the corridor.

The project list names the streets and dimensions but does not identify a contractor or completion date. It is a town-scale improvement, distinct from the industrial construction at the port.

State funding advanced infrastructure at the Port of Inola

Oklahoma’s Office of Management and Enterprise Services announced in March 2025 that a Port of Inola project would advance infrastructure and economic development. Port improvements can involve site access, utilities, and coordination across a larger industrial footprint. For authorized work at the port, a contractor sleeper trailer could provide a nearby rest option during an extended construction schedule.

That general port announcement predates Sofidel’s 2026 groundbreaking and concerns separate infrastructure activity. Keeping the projects distinct avoids assigning the factory expansion to the state funding notice.

ODOT listed a $750,000 bridge project over Inola Creek

A July 2025 ODOT commission packet lists a city bridge project over Inola Creek on E-W 600 Road, about 0.2 miles east of N-S 4200 Road. The estimated construction cost was $750,000 under the Local Government Division Bridge Formula Program. A portable restroom trailer could support an authorized bridge crew at this rural crossing.

The packet establishes the project location and estimate but does not say work was completed. The precise site keeps the bridge item distinct from nearby Port of Inola industrial projects and from the town’s street-overlay scope.

Inola’s name means “Black Fox” in Cherokee

Oklahoma Historical Society says Inola’s name translates from Cherokee as “Black Fox.” The Kansas and Arkansas Valley Railway laid tracks through the region in 1889, and the town received its first postal designation in March 1890. A portable restroom trailer could support an authorized community heritage walk connecting that origin story with today’s changing industrial landscape.

The post office briefly closed later that year and reopened in April 1891. By 1901, two general stores, a blacksmith, livestock dealers, and a physician served about 100 residents. These are historical details, not a description of present-day businesses.

Inola’s proposed aluminum smelter remains in a civic and legal dispute

KJRH reported in October 2026 that Tulsa Ports was considering legal action against Inola over town actions and ordinances affecting a proposed aluminum smelter. The town’s moratorium remained in place through April 7, 2027, with a referendum planned for that date. A portable restroom trailer would be relevant only if a future permitted project actually moved into construction.

This is a status update on a proposal, not an announcement that the smelter has broken ground. It is separate from Sofidel’s factory expansion, which did break ground in June 2026, and should not be conflated with that active construction project.

Sofidel’s Inola project links production equipment with internal transport

E80 Group says the 2026 expansion will include new facilities, a 75,000-tonne-per-year tissue machine, automated palletizing and wrapping, and a larger fleet of laser-guided vehicles. The system is intended to connect paper production with storage and truck loading. A temporary shower-restroom trailer could support authorized contractors managing multiple installation trades on a site of this scale.

The October update describes the planned automation design; Sofidel’s March announcement supplies the investment and production timeline. The expansion is underway, but those logistics systems remain future components rather than completed equipment.
