The Coyote Fire brought a multi-agency response near Greenfield

Blaine County Emergency Management reported the Coyote Fire near Greenfield during the March 2026 wildfire event. Oklahoma's situation update says forestry task forces from several counties joined local and mutual-aid crews, including Greenfield Coyote Fire Department. The incident also led to localized evacuations around Greenfield. A portable restroom trailer could support a future responder training or community meeting, but it is not a substitute for incident facilities or an emergency plan.

The update describes a regional fire response, not a fire inside town limits.

Blaine County’s work plan lists a bridge project southwest of Greenfield

Oklahoma’s five-year county bridge plan places a FY2026 bridge-and-approaches project on NS-250, 9.2 miles west and 4.5 miles south of Greenfield. The listed work is on a county road well outside town, with $625,000 in combined funding shown in the plan.

A portable restroom trailer could support a future authorized rural work zone if the contractor’s site plan calls for temporary facilities. The state document records a planned county bridge project, not a Greenfield municipal contract or a current detour. A scheduled plan entry does not establish that crews are on site today.

Greenfield took shape when the Cheyenne-Arapaho lands opened

OHS dates Greenfield's establishment to noon on April 19, 1892, when the Cheyenne-Arapaho Reservation opened for non-Indian settlement. The town was named for its first postmaster, William Henry Greenfield, although its postal office did not open until 1900. The settlement date and postal history are distinct milestones, an important nuance in the town's early timeline.

A future history program could use a portable restroom trailer at its gathering venue while maps explain the sequence.

Greenfield's post office briefly lost authorization in 1900

The first Greenfield post office opened on January 30, 1900, but federal authority was rescinded in May. Service was not reestablished until September 27, 1901. The interruption makes the postal record more complicated than a single opening date and offers a precise example of how frontier services could change as communities took shape.

If a future archival display features the postal timeline, a portable restroom trailer could serve the event site rather than the historical building.

Four passenger trains and two freight trains served Greenfield

The Enid and Anadarko Railway built Greenfield's first rail line in 1901. OHS says two freight and four passenger trains served the community daily, connecting local farms with a wider market and making the town an agricultural trade stop. A future rail-history program could use a portable restroom trailer for visitors at an approved location; active service is not claimed.

Rail service became one piece of Greenfield's early growth alongside its stores, elevator, cotton gin, and bank.

Greenfield's farm trade supported stores, a gin and an elevator

Greenfield served surrounding farms with hardware and general-merchandise stores, garages, filling stations, cafés, a cotton gin, an elevator, and a bank. Its early economy combined agricultural processing with everyday services, so residents did not rely on one enterprise alone.

At a future agricultural event, a portable handwashing station station could be useful near food or produce demonstrations. OHS also notes the first bank failed in 1923 and its successor later sold to Watonga State Bank.

Greenfield built separate high and grade schools

The first schoolhouse held twelve students during winter months, with the teacher's salary usually paid voluntarily at about fifty dollars. A four-room building followed; later, the town erected a high school in 1921 and a grade school in 1930. At that time the schools employed twelve teachers, reflecting a changing community and expanding facilities.

For a future alumni gathering, a portable restroom trailer can support an outdoor venue if the actual attendance requires it.

Greenfield schools held their final commencement in 1991

The Greenfield schools held their last commencement in May 1991. That endpoint followed decades of school development, from a twelve-student winter classroom to separate high- and grade-school buildings. OHS records the closing milestone but does not provide a reason, so the story should not assign it to consolidation, population change, or finances without another source.

If former students organize a future reunion, a portable restroom trailer could serve the gathering site.

Greenfield Baptist Church marked its centennial in 2004

Greenfield Baptist Church celebrated its centennial in August 2004, a documented milestone for a congregation founded in the town's early years. OHS also records Baptist, Nazarene, and Presbyterian congregations among the community's early institutions. A future outdoor celebration could consider a portable restroom trailer if the venue needs extra facilities.

The centennial gives a more recent marker of continuity than the settlement-era dates, while the source does not imply the church's current event calendar.

Greenfield's 2020 census count was 115

Greenfield had 303 residents in 1940, 93 in 2010, and 115 in the April 2020 census, according to OHS. The record also describes the town as a bedroom community around the turn of the century.

Any future gathering should use an attendance estimate before organizers choose a portable restroom trailer. Those figures show population change across decades but do not establish the current head count or the reach of the surrounding service area.
