Crescent had several utility jobs to coordinate in 2024

Crescent’s August 13, 2024 city-manager report put two utility projects on the calendar: a south-side sewer extension with its environmental permit approved, and elevated-water-tower rehabilitation entering competitive bidding. The report anticipated autumn starts rather than describing completed construction.

For a contractor planning a future assignment across more than one Crescent site, combined shower and restroom facilities could sit at a common crew base, serving workers at the end of their shifts. That base would need reliable connections throughout the work, so its water supply could not be assumed from whichever utility project was closest.

The report’s sewer scope included a lift station, a pressure main and gravity sewer. Those different work areas are a useful reminder to plan the daily movements of people as carefully as the delivery of materials.

Crescent’s first store was a wagon and tent

After land seekers reached the area in 1889, William Brown opened a general-merchandise business from a wagon and a tent. His neighbor Benjamin Ryland later joined him, and they moved into a log cabin. A future outdoor heritage stop could plan a portable restroom trailer for visitors. The Oklahoma Historical Society records the humble start behind Crescent’s early business district.

Crescent platted in 1891 and incorporated in 1893

Crescent’s townsite was platted in November 1891, and the municipality incorporated in 1893. Those milestones followed the first store, hotel, restaurant, bakery, and post office. For a future site survey, a contractor sleeper trailer could be reviewed if fieldwork required an overnight stay. The sequence gives the settlement a civic timeline independent of the railroad move that came later.

Crescent shifted west to meet the railroad

The Denver, Enid and Gulf Railroad laid track about a mile west of Crescent in 1902. A modern crew documenting the old and new sites might consider a portable restroom trailer if the fieldwork takes place away from town facilities. C. E. Wells and J. H. Rhoades surrendered eighty acres apiece so the town could move to the line; for a short time it was called West Crescent.

Peaches and sweet potatoes shared the fields with cotton

Crescent’s early farm economy included cotton, wheat, peaches, and sweet potatoes as money crops. The Oklahoma Historical Society’s list broadens the town’s agricultural story beyond the oil that later arrived north and south of the community. If a future harvest demonstration required workers to remain at an outdoor site, a portable shower trailer could be assessed for the crew.

Statehood closed Crescent’s saloons in 1907

When Oklahoma entered the Union as a dry state in 1907, Crescent’s three saloons closed. A future outdoor film night could use a portable restroom trailer if venue facilities are limited. Two billiard parlors took their place, until voters in the mid-1920s outlawed billiards and authorized moving-picture shows. The Oklahoma Historical Society records a community making choices about public entertainment.

Oil fields opened north and south of Crescent

Oil was discovered north of Crescent in 1926, and the south Crescent field opened in 1930. By 1933, its 32 wells produced 3,000 barrels a day, according to the Oklahoma Historical Society. These figures describe the historical field, not current production. If a future field project required a remote worker base, a contractor sleeper trailer could be reviewed for the job.

Project planning questions

Crescent workforce facility FAQs.

Can you help plan a man camp near Crescent?

Send us the address, dates, and number of people staying. Tell us who will share sleeping space and which portable shower, bathroom, and laundry facilities you need. We'll discuss the available layouts with you.

Can I ask for a portable bathroom or shower on its own?

Tell us which facility you need and what is already available at the property. We can review a portable restroom trailer, mobile shower, or combined unit for the job.

How do I choose a portable sleeper layout?

Start with the rooming arrangements. A crew sharing bunk space has different needs from staff who need separate rooms. The model pages show photos and published details to help you compare.

What should I send before discussing delivery?

The address, preferred dates, crew size, and a description of the entrance and available space are useful. Include what you know about power, water, and wastewater connections so we can talk through placement.

Ralph Godfrey took donkey basketball on the road

In 1934, Crescent resident Ralph E. Godfrey began donkey basketball as a fundraising business. The Oklahoma Historical Society says he traveled across North America for the next 47 years and fielded as many as ten touring teams at his peak. If a future fundraiser revived a similar sports program, a shower and restroom combination trailer might serve players and spectators at an outdoor venue.

A weekly newspaper and city-manager system outlasted early change

The Logan County News ran from 1903 to 1996, outlasting several shorter-lived Crescent papers. In October 1951, the town adopted a city manager–city council form of government. A future archive or public-history event might consider a mobile laundry trailer for a multi-day crew working on site. The Oklahoma Historical Society places both milestones in a longer civic history.
