Floodwater reached roads 1 NNE of Baker in June 2024

A National Weather Service storm report puts flooding at an intersection and surrounding fields 1 NNE of Baker on June 19, 2024. After a washout, crews may need to inspect a crossing before traffic returns. A portable restroom trailer for road response on firm ground beyond the closure would save them a trip back to town for a restroom break.

Texas County emergency management reported 30 high-water rescues across the county that day; the report does not assign that total to Baker.

Two storm reports logged hail and high winds near Baker

The May 24, 2016 NWS log describes low-precipitation supercells ahead of a dryline and records 1.75-inch hail near Baker. A separate August 2, 2009 report estimated 56-knot thunderstorm winds 3 miles northeast of the community. If another hail or wind event calls cleanup crews out near Baker, a portable handwashing station for storm crews beside their equipment truck gives workers a place to wash up before eating or climbing back into the cab.

They are two different storms, not evidence of wind damage at the 2016 hail site.

An ice storm cut power; a later blizzard closed county roads

During the December 2006 ice storm, Texas County emergency managers reported about 900 homes and businesses without power at the height of the storm, mostly in Guymon and Goodwell. Seventeen years later, ODOT closed all major Texas County roads during the January 8, 2024 blizzard as drivers became stranded in near-zero visibility. These were separate events; neither report assigns an outage or rescue count to Baker.

A shower and restroom combination for winter crews at a cleared crew base would give winter road and line teams a place to wash and use the restroom without leaving the work area between shifts.

A 2014 windstorm knocked down nearly 200 poles near Guymon

The National Weather Service's June 2014 storm record says that, as a storm moved over Guymon, Tri-County Electric reported nearly 200 power poles knocked down and nearly 5,000 meters without power. A separate report noted outages in Goodwell as well. When a later pole-repair job stretches across shifts, a mobile laundry trailer for utility crews at the utility's designated base gives crews somewhere to wash workwear before loading it back into the truck.

The log describes the Guymon-area response, not damage inside Baker.

A permit file traces a Texas County compressor station to 1956

An Oklahoma Corporation Commission order describes the Guymon-Hugoton Field as covering a large part of Texas County. A 2021 Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality draft permit evaluation places WTG Hugoton LP's existing Texas County No. 2 pipeline compressor station 12 miles west of Guymon and two miles south on Goodwell Road. If an operator schedules a multi-day overhaul, a remote sleeper trailer for pipeline technicians beside the authorized work area lets technicians rest between shifts instead of making each break a drive back to town.

The file traces construction to 1956 and lists six stationary engines in its 2021 equipment inventory.

ODOT awarded US-54 work near Tyrone and planned SH-136 shoulders

In March 2019, the Oklahoma Transportation Commission awarded nearly $12 million to reconstruct and widen seven miles of US-54 near Tyrone. ODOT's 2022 eight-year plan separately called for adding shoulders to SH-136 north of US-412 toward E 70 Road in Texas County. The first was an awarded contract; the second was a plan.

For another paving or shoulder job on these corridors, a shower and restroom facilities for a highway crew at an off-road staging point would give crews showers and restrooms without turning the highway shoulder into a break area.

Guymon's pork plant had completed a major expansion by 2020

Seaboard Foods marked 25 years of operations in 2020 and said its Guymon pork-processing plant had recently completed a major expansion. A later expansion could bring specialist trades back to Guymon for a temporary project. A sleeper trailer for an industrial project crew at a separate contractor base would put overnight accommodation near the project without placing living quarters inside the processing space.

The company reported that the plant began its first full year in January 1996 and described it as a 900,000-square-foot operation. Seaboard also said it began building Oklahoma Panhandle farms to supply the plant in the early 1990s.

USDA logged a Plack soil profile northeast of Goodwell

A USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service lab record documents a Plack soil profile sampled on December 11, 1999. Its listed coordinates are about three miles northeast of Goodwell, in Texas County. The profile includes measurements from several depths, including saturated-paste electrical conductivity; it is a sample result, not evidence that Baker has a soil-salinity problem. USGS also publishes a digital surficial-geology map for the county.

Soil crews move between sample points and their vehicle throughout the day. At a temporary field base, a portable handwashing station for field research gives them somewhere to clean up before handling food or heading home.

Goodwell Wind Farm came online in Texas County in 2015

Enel Green Power announced that its 200-megawatt Goodwell wind farm came online on December 9, 2015. The company said it invested about $310 million in construction and expected the site to generate roughly 860 million kilowatt-hours a year. During a later turbine inspection, a portable restroom trailer for a wind-service crew staged near the active work area could spare technicians repeated drives back to Guymon just to find a restroom.

Goodwell is the named project location in Texas County, not Baker.

ODOT listed a bridge-deck job west of Optima for August 2026

ODOT's May 2026 tentative-bid report listed a Texas County bridge-deck replacement on County Road D0922 over the Union Pacific Railroad, 0.2 miles west of Optima. The agency classified it as bridge rehabilitation and put a tentative bid opening in August 2026. That date has passed; this schedule does not show whether ODOT later awarded or completed the job.

If the deck job proceeds, a portable restroom trailer for a bridge project belongs at the contractor's authorized staging point, clear of the rail crossing and the narrow work zone.
