Wheat and garden crops sustained Fairmont’s first homesteaders

The Cherokee Outlet opening brought settlement to Patterson Township in 1893. Homesteaders grew wheat as a cash crop and garden crops for household use; the township counted 546 residents in 1900. That agricultural base predated Fairmont’s formal plat. For a future harvest-season gathering, a event restroom trailer could serve visitors without turning this historical account into a current crop report.

Fairmont’s lots sold in a single day in 1902

The Enid Right of Way and Townsite Company platted Fairmont on October 18, 1902, as the Denver, Enid and Gulf Railroad was building through the area. Lots sold in one day by auction and mail-order bids; the opening celebration included a beer wagon. A modern townsite anniversary could use a event restroom trailer for visitors at a designated gathering space.

Two railways made Fairmont an agricultural junction

Fairmont became a crossing point for the Denver, Enid and Gulf line and the Arkansas Valley and Western Railway. Four grain elevators—two on each line—stored crops before shipment. For present-day track or elevator maintenance, a rail-maintenance restroom trailer would be set at the contractor’s approved base; the historical account does not say the old infrastructure remains active.

A church school moved into Fairmont in 1903

Farm families organized a German Evangelical Lutheran congregation in 1897 and built a church the following year. The congregation started a school west of town in 1898; it moved into Fairmont in 1903, when a new church was built. For a future school-history exhibit, a exhibit restroom trailer can support outdoor panels while the building remains accessible to visitors.

Fairmont hosted a large Lutheran youth convention in 1922

The local Lutheran church began sponsoring a Walther League youth chapter in 1910. Its May 1922 convention was described by OHS as the largest gathering of that organization ever held in Oklahoma. A present-day reunion inspired by the history could size a gathering restroom trailer to its actual schedule and attendance.

Garfield County’s 1916 oil discovery reached Fairmont’s economy

A Garfield County oil discovery in 1916 helped drive drilling in the area. A refinery had been built near Fairmont before World War I and was later enlarged, adding petroleum to the town’s farm and rail activity. For a future industrial crew assigned locally, a crew shower trailer could be considered when the work runs across shifts, subject to an approved site plan.

Fairmont Refining became a Champlin property in 1925

Fairmont Refining Company became part of Champlin Refining Company in 1925. The change followed an earlier refinery opening near town and overlapped with a period of local drilling activity. If a future industrial rehabilitation needs outside contractors, a industrial crew restroom trailer could serve their base after access and site requirements are reviewed; no such current project is documented here.

Three schools served Fairmont by 1936

By 1936, Fairmont supported one public school and two private schools associated with churches. Earlier, the Lutheran congregation had moved its school into town, and Fairmont had the county’s only high school in 1908. A future campus project could use a school-site restroom trailer for contractors in a separate staging area, away from student entrances.

Six petroleum companies operated in Fairmont in the late 1930s

In the late 1930s, Champlin and Sinclair and four other petroleum companies operated in Fairmont. The industry followed a 1916 county oil discovery and became part of a town whose rail elevators and farm services were already established. For a future turnaround with an outside crew, workforce sleeper trailer could provide rest only at a permitted lodging location away from the operating plant.

Fairmont’s population rose and fell with changing work

The census counted 166 Fairmont residents in 1920, and the town remained near that level through World War II. Postwar migration to cities reduced the count; an oil-business upturn brought a rise to 419 in 1980, followed by 129 in 1990. A project plan today should use a verified roster: a project restroom trailer can be sized to the actual crew rather than historic population.

Fairmont’s German Lutheran congregation began before the town plat

Farmers in the area organized an Evangelical Lutheran congregation in 1897, five years before Fairmont was platted. A church followed in 1898, then a replacement in 1904; by the time the town grew, the congregation had also established a school. For a future outdoor service anniversary, a community event restroom trailer could support the gathering while keeping the church building accessible.
