Clearview gathered to remember its history in June 2017

Former and current Clearview residents came together for Founder's Day and Juneteenth in June 2017. The Oklahoma Senate's account records a historical bus tour, an interpretation of Chief Alfred Charles Sams by Bruce Fisher, and recognition of James P. and Vivian H. Owens as Citizens of the Year. A gathering built around reunions and a tour needs its practical arrangements to help people stay with the program. An organizer considering additional restroom facilities would want them near the assembly point, with a clear path for guests returning from the bus.

Senator Anastasia Pittman attended the celebration, whose theme joined remembrance of the past with plans for the future. The event was a specific act of local history-making: residents were collecting, sharing, and honoring the story of one of Oklahoma's historic All-Black towns.

Clearview’s name followed an earlier Lincoln townsite

The Oklahoma Historical Society’s survey traces the town’s name from Lincoln to Clearview in 1903, after an earlier Oklahoma town already used Lincoln. Clearview developed as one of Oklahoma’s historically Black communities in the Muscogee Creek Nation. The name change is a small but concrete piece of a larger self-governance story. A future civil-rights history program could consider a portable restroom trailer at its approved public venue.

The Clearview Patriarch gave the town a newspaper of its own

Beginning in 1911, James E. Thompson published The Clearview Patriarch, which grew out of the earlier Lincoln Tribune. The OHS survey connects the paper to Thompson’s town promotion and civic organizing. That publication history gives researchers a source for how residents presented the town to readers and prospective settlers. A future archive display could use a portable restroom trailer if held at an outdoor community venue.

Clearview’s 1912 business district included seven dry-goods and grocery stores

A May 1912 account cited in the Oklahoma Historical Society survey describes seven dry-goods and grocery stores, real-estate offices, a drug store, newspaper, cotton gin, and train depot in Clearview. The same source notes a brick kiln owned by town promoter James E. Thompson. The snapshot captures a commercial center at a particular point in time, not today’s storefront count. A public heritage day could consider a portable restroom trailer near the visitor area.

Cotton fields and cattle shipping anchored Clearview’s early economy

The state preservation survey describes cotton as the principal crop around Clearview and says the town became a destination for cattle shipments within Oklahoma. Residents also grew potatoes and other vegetables. These facts show a mixed agricultural economy rather than a single-industry town. If a future local farm-history event uses an outdoor site, a portable restroom trailer can be evaluated with the event layout and existing amenities.

Clearview residents planned a subscription school in 1904

In 1904, residents planned a subscription school after the county superintendent did not secure public funding, according to the OHS survey. Parents paid according to attendance, a familiar arrangement in rural communities of the period. The episode shows local families building education access before the town’s later college project. A future school-history program could consider a portable restroom trailer at a public gathering location if indoor facilities are unavailable.

The Creek-Seminole Agricultural College opened near Clearview in 1916

John L. Leftwich purchased land next to Clearview in 1914 for an industrial and agricultural college for Black students. When the Creek-Seminole Agricultural College opened in September 1916, contemporary accounts described it as a rare opportunity for undergraduate education for nonwhite students. The history is documented in the OHS survey, which traces both the earlier land purchase and opening. A future history program could use a portable restroom trailer at an approved community venue.

Railroad setbacks left Clearview without easy rail access by 1931

The Fort Smith and Western Railroad entered receivership in 1915, re-emerged in 1923, then closed in 1931, according to the Oklahoma Historical Society survey. The rail loss reduced Clearview’s access to an important route for local trade and cattle shipping. The source links the change to residents leaving for urban work but does not quantify the direct effect. A future transportation-history walk could use a portable restroom trailer at a permitted central stop.

Project planning questions

Clearview workforce facility FAQs.

Can you help plan a man camp near Clearview?

Send us the address, dates, and number of people staying. Tell us who will share sleeping space and which portable shower, bathroom, and laundry facilities you need. We'll discuss the available layouts with you.

Can I ask for a portable bathroom or shower on its own?

Tell us which facility you need and what is already available at the property. We can review a portable restroom trailer, mobile shower, or combined unit for the job.

How do I choose a portable sleeper layout?

Start with the rooming arrangements. A crew sharing bunk space has different needs from staff who need separate rooms. The model pages show photos and published details to help you compare.

What should I send before discussing delivery?

The address, preferred dates, crew size, and a description of the entrance and available space are useful. Include what you know about power, water, and wastewater connections so we can talk through placement.

Clearview received approval for a $1.15 million water-line grant in 2024

In June 2024 the Oklahoma Water Resources Board approved $1,153,846 for Clearview water-system improvements. The board release describes the grant as infrastructure support for a small community, while the state project report identifies water-line replacement. The award establishes funding approval, not when construction finished. If crews open trenches in town, a construction restroom trailer could be considered at a confirmed staging area away from residents’ access routes.

Clearview announced a June 2026 dedication for its Civil Rights Trail

Before the scheduled June 20, 2026 dedication at the Main Street Community Center, Clearview leaders described a Civil Rights Trail with permanent markers, a town map sign, and QR links to digital archives. The announcement makes Clearview’s history accessible along Main Street; it does not establish attendance at the event or later trail use. At a future guided tour, a portable restroom trailer could be considered at an approved gathering point if nearby facilities cannot serve visitors.
