Clayton's water-line grant also addressed fire protection

Clayton's February 2026 water project addressed both worn pipes and concerns about fire protection. OWRB approved a $99,999 grant for replacing roughly 2,400 feet of line, three gate valves, and hydrants. During installation, a crew restroom trailer for the crew would need a supply coordinated with the sections being isolated.

The authority's existing network included cast-iron and PVC lines from two to six inches in diameter. Replacing individual sections while maintaining the wider system makes the sequence important: the work team's facilities should remain usable as the distribution infrastructure around the site changes.

Clayton kept the name of a Choctaw Nation post office after 1907

The community was first called Dexter, with a post office established on March 31, 1894. The name changed to Clayton on April 5, 1907, while the area was still part of the Choctaw Nation and Indian Territory. The Oklahoma Historical Society lists several possible origins for Clayton’s name rather than choosing one. A future town-history gathering could consider a portable restroom trailer at its public venue.

Rail and timber helped build Clayton’s early economy

The St. Louis and San Francisco Railway built through the Choctaw Nation in 1886–87, and Dexter/Clayton developed along the route as a lumber-mill town. Local mills supplied lumber beyond the valley; the state history entry notes that an Oklahoma City builder ordered material from the Clayton area. For any future remote timber or restoration project, a construction restroom trailer can be considered when the site lacks usable facilities.

Clayton’s 1911 directory listed stores, sawmills, and a hotel

Polk’s 1911 Oklahoma directory estimated Clayton’s population at 300 and listed general stores, sawmills, a lumber company, and a hotel. The record offers a snapshot of a working town built around timber and regional trade. It does not mean those businesses still operate. A future heritage event could use a portable restroom trailer at a permitted outdoor venue if available buildings are not open to visitors.

Clayton’s First State Bank failed in March 1922

The Oklahoma Historical Society records the failure of the First State Bank of Clayton in March 1922. The same history notes that lumber companies remained important in the 1920s, so the bank closure was one event in a town economy that continued to change. A future preservation project on a historic commercial building could consider a construction restroom trailer during authorized work, without suggesting the bank building itself is under renovation.

Clayton timber reached homebuilding projects in Oklahoma City

The state history entry names Gilbert A. Nichols as a buyer who ordered lumber from the Clayton area for homes in Oklahoma City. The detail links a small southeastern Oklahoma mill economy to construction in the state’s largest city. The source does not specify a mill or shipment size. A modern work camp near a remote forestry or construction project could consider a contractor sleeper trailer if crews need to stay close to the site.

The Clayton Enterprise began publishing in 1940

Clayton’s local newspaper history includes the Clayton Enterprise, established in June 1940, followed later by the weekly Clayton Today. Those publications gave residents a local channel for civic and business news. The date is a documented community milestone rather than evidence about circulation today. A future town-history exhibit could consider a portable restroom trailer if it is hosted outdoors or in a temporary venue.

Clayton’s high school auditorium is listed on the National Register

The Oklahoma Historical Society identifies Clayton High School Auditorium as a National Register property. Its listing links a local education building with the town’s civic and architectural history. The source does not describe current repairs or an event schedule. If a future school grounds project is authorized, a construction restroom trailer could serve contractors while keeping public access and preservation rules in view.

Project planning questions

Clayton workforce facility FAQs.

Can you help plan a man camp near Clayton?

Send us the address, dates, and number of people staying. Tell us who will share sleeping space and which portable shower, bathroom, and laundry facilities you need. We'll discuss the available layouts with you.

Can I ask for a portable bathroom or shower on its own?

Tell us which facility you need and what is already available at the property. We can review a portable restroom trailer, mobile shower, or combined unit for the job.

How do I choose a portable sleeper layout?

Start with the rooming arrangements. A crew sharing bunk space has different needs from staff who need separate rooms. The model pages show photos and published details to help you compare.

What should I send before discussing delivery?

The address, preferred dates, crew size, and a description of the entrance and available space are useful. Include what you know about power, water, and wastewater connections so we can talk through placement.

Clayton’s population reached 833 in the 1980 Census

Clayton’s population rose from 612 in 1950 to 833 in 1980, then the 2020 Census recorded 555 residents. The figures sit alongside an economy historically based on agriculture and lumber, and they show why city services cannot be inferred from an old boom period. A future town event should use its expected attendance—not historic population—to size a portable restroom trailer.

Oklahoma listed a Clayton school annexation action in 2025

The state Department of Education’s annexation and consolidation page records mandatory annexation involving Albion and Clayton in June 2025. The public notice establishes a school-governance change, not a construction project or change to the town’s municipal boundary. If future campus work follows the district transition, a construction restroom trailer could be considered only for an authorized construction site.
