The Deep Fork closed Dentonville Road southwest of Beggs in 2015

The Deep Fork near Beggs rose above its 18-foot flood stage on December 27, 2015, then crested at 27.46 feet early on December 29. For a response that lasts across several days, a shared sleeper trailer at a dry, approved staging site could give road and utility crews somewhere to rest between river checks.

National Weather Service Storm Data recorded severe agricultural flooding and a closure on Dentonville Road southwest of Beggs. The river did not drop below flood stage until January 4, 2016.

A March 2026 tornado damaged Beggs schools and brought search teams into town

The National Weather Service rated the March 6, 2026 tornado at Beggs EF3. Its survey says the tornado struck Beggs Public Schools on the west side of town, damaging the high school and middle school roofs and the bus barn roof and doors; it then crossed 15th Street and damaged homes along Grimes Road. When a later storm response draws crews and assessors to damaged blocks, a shower and restroom trailer at an approved staging base can give teams a place to wash up and use the restroom between assignments.

The next day, Oklahoma Task Force 1 reported searching and clearing 33 structures in Beggs, and the Red Cross provided a canteen there.

Beggs First Baptist Church was listed as an ice-storm shelter in 2007

Oklahoma emergency managers listed Beggs First Baptist Church, 110 West Fifth Street, among the shelters still open during the December 2007 ice-storm recovery. The same December 18 update put statewide outages at 61,930, down from more than 640,000 at the peak; those figures were not broken out for Beggs. Southern Baptist Men’s Relief and the Salvation Army were serving meals at many shelters.

If a designated shelter opens during another winter outage, a restroom trailer could add restroom capacity alongside the building while its own rooms serve residents.

Beggs worked through a series of water and wastewater repairs in 2026

In March and April 2026, the City of Beggs reported repairs to its water treatment plant filter pumps, a collapsed clay sewer line on West Main, and property damage from a water-main break on North Dogwood. A separate update said the wastewater plant had been inoperable since the 2019 flood; by April 14 its aerators were running again, but the city was still preparing to resume treatment and had approved a loan and engineering upgrade plan. For another treatment-plant repair phase, a hands-free handwashing trailer could give crews a dedicated handwashing point close to the work area.

On April 16, the city reported the wastewater-plant generator repaired and running.

Beggs’ oil boom began west of town, and a crude line later had a recorded release

The Oklahoma Historical Society dates the start of oil production near Beggs to 1918, at a discovery half a mile west of town; the boom peaked in 1926, when the town’s floating population reached about 5,000. Federal pipeline incident data also records a 2014 release of three barrels of crude on the underground six-inch Slick Junction-to-Beggs line at a Beggs location. A pipeline inspection or repair crew assigned outside a town center could use a contractor sleeper trailer as a rest base near its approved work area.

The record lists 2.9 barrels recovered and 0.1 barrel unrecovered.

ODOT weighed three ways to fix Beggs’ US-75A railroad underpass

At a December 2024 open house, ODOT presented safety options for about 1.5 miles of US-75A through Beggs, from the SH-16 junction north. The agency described a sharp curve and a railroad underpass with drainage problems. Its three proposals were to bridge the tracks south of the underpass, bridge north of it, or route US-75A east around town and move its junction with SH-16 about six-tenths of a mile east.

If the proposal advances into construction, a shared sleeper trailer could give an assigned road crew a place to rest near the selected corridor during a longer work phase.

Looped Square opened a 25,000-square-foot meat plant on Highway 75 near Beggs

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation broke ground on Looped Square Meat Co. on October 9, 2020, just south of Duck Creek Casino on Highway 75. A future addition at a rural processing site could put a laundry trailer nearby so contractors have a separate place to wash workwear during construction.

The Beggs facility held its ribbon cutting on December 3, 2021, at 3300 Highway 75. Mvskoke Media reported that the 25,000-square-foot plant had capacity for up to 125 head of cattle or other animals, and that its retail space opened three days after the ceremony.

USGS has kept a long sampling record on the Deep Fork near Beggs

At monitoring station 07243500, USGS records 2,190 discrete sampling activities and 250 observed properties for the Deep Fork near Beggs, with those sample records spanning 1939 to 1993. The station also has field measurements through 2026 and continuous data beginning in 1990, making this stretch of river a long-running point for water monitoring.

For another round of field sampling at the Deep Fork, a portable handwashing station can give a crew a handwashing point beside its chosen access area.
