Ben Avant established a ranch in Osage County in 1896

Ben F. Avant settled in the former Osage Nation in 1895 and began farming and ranching the following year. A sleeper trailer for rural field crews could be considered for a future authorized field assignment once the landowner approves the location and access plan.

His land later became part of his wife Rosalie Rogers’s Osage allotment in 1906, the Oklahoma Historical Society records.

The Avant oil field was discovered northeast of town in 1904

The Avant Field was discovered in 1904 northeast of the present townsite. Future oil-field service work has its own long shifts and wash needs. A shower trailer for oilfield crews at an operator-approved crew base could keep washing close to an assignment.

The Oklahoma Historical Society records peak output of as much as 75 barrels of oil and 12 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

The Midland Valley line reached Avant’s ranch before the town formed

Railroad construction reached the Avant ranch in 1905, and a post office using the Avant name opened in August 1906. The town itself did not begin developing until autumn 1909.

A future railroad-side job has to keep worker facilities off the track and operating access. A portable restroom trailer for railroad crews at a permitted laydown site could give crews nearby facilities.

Avant completed a two-story brick schoolhouse in 1910

Town development began in autumn 1909. If the school or another public building needs future repairs, a shower and restroom combination trailer could offer tradespeople facilities while keeping the building clear for work.

By the following spring, Avant had completed a two-story brick schoolhouse; the community also had a bank, hotels and a theater among its early businesses.

Avant’s Novelty Theater hosted movies and vaudeville

Among Avant’s early businesses, OHS lists the Avant Novelty Theater, which showed motion pictures and vaudeville. A mobile kitchen trailer could help a future outdoor screening or community performance serve food at its chosen venue.

It stood alongside hotels and the bank in a town that had grown up around the rail line.

Avant’s namesake died after a dispute with the town marshal

On August 28, 1923, the town marshal at Avant shot and killed Ben F. Avant after a dispute. The Oklahoma Historical Society records the event in its account of the rancher for whom the town was named.

If a future historical exhibit discusses that period, a portable restroom trailer for a history event could support visitors at the exhibit venue; it has no connection to the 1923 incident.

Oil companies used water flooding to increase output in the Avant Field

During the 1950s, Sinclair Oil and Gas and Cities Service Oil and Gas used water-flood methods in the Avant Field to increase production. A future maintenance assignment across shifts could use a mobile laundry trailer for oilfield crews to keep workwear together at an approved crew base after servicing and access are confirmed.

The field had been discovered northeast of town in 1904.

A truss bridge over Bird Creek was built at Avant in 1914–15

The Historic American Engineering Record documents a bridge over Bird Creek at Avant, built in 1914 and 1915. Its file preserves the engineering record of an early creek crossing before modern roads took over.

Bridge preservation can bring surveyors and tradespeople to a constrained bank-side site. A portable restroom trailer for bridge work at an approved access point could serve the crew without blocking the approach.
