Southern Plains’ gas-to-fuel announcement near Alex

Southern Plains Landfill lies about three miles northwest of Alex, off SH-19. In November 2023, Vision RNG and Waste Connections announced an agreement to turn gas collected there into renewable natural gas. The announcement anticipated construction jobs and permanent plant operating positions.

For a visiting team booked on an extended energy construction assignment, a sleeper trailer can put accommodation at a separate support property, with the rooming plan based on actual shifts and dates. Living space would need to remain outside the landfill’s operating traffic and process areas.

The proposed plant was expected to produce more than 370,000 MMBtu of fuel a year. That was an announced projection, not a measured output: the release described a project still to be commissioned.

A school gym with a second role during storms

Alex’s new high school placed thirteen classrooms beside a domed gymnasium that also serves as a community storm shelter. Willowbrook’s project account describes science and STEM teaching spaces, a cafeteria with a performance stage and kitchen, and a gym with four locker rooms. It received an AGC Oklahoma construction award in 2018.

During a school replacement project, a construction restroom trailer can give the building trades their own facilities outside the occupied pupil areas. That arrangement belongs in the construction access plan before classrooms and kitchens are handed over for use. The completed Alex complex combines teaching, meals, assemblies and shelter in linked spaces, so the contractor’s account captures a much broader job than a standalone basketball court.

The football field moved to make room for classrooms

The first physical step in Alex’s campus redevelopment was moving the existing football field east. DAP’s account ties the work to the 2016 bond plan and describes artificial turf, improved drainage, an eight-lane track, new bleachers and a press box. A temporary restroom trailer could serve a comparable stadium construction phase before permanent spectator bathrooms are available. In Alex’s design, the field’s concessions and toilets were integrated into the new high-school building. The athletic work also included a two-story field house at the south end, bringing lockers, training rooms and an upstairs hospitality area to the sports complex. Moving the field created space for the separate high school and gym construction.

SH-19’s shoulders grew out of a long public review

ODOT’s 2024 accomplishments report describes new shoulders being added on SH 19 around Alex, along with bridge replacements and removal of one bridge from its inventory. A road-crew restroom trailer for such a corridor job would sit in a stable compound with access maintained as earthwork and traffic shift along the route.

The planning record reaches back to a June 2017 open house at the Alex school cafeteria. That proposal covered 8.35 miles to the Roaring Creek Bridge, with separate segments west of town, through Alex and east of town. After public comments, ODOT revised its preferred alternative in March 2018. By 2024, the agency described construction joining earlier shoulder work east through Bradley, moving the corridor toward a more continuous shoulder network.

A county-road bridge entered the improvement program

Middle Roaring Creek’s crossing on EW 149, southwest of Alex, appeared in the Transportation Commission’s March 1, 2010 approvals. The commission accepted a force-account project request under the County Bridge and Road Improvement Fund. That is a specific county-road crossing, separate from the state-highway bridges on SH 19. A bridge-crew restroom trailer for work there would require a staging property on the accessible side of the creek, with delivery and servicing coordinated around the bridge operation. The March decision authorized the force-account request; it did not set a construction timetable.

Four feet of water closed Main Street

Main Street in Alex was impassable on the night of June 28, 2007, with approximately four feet of water over the road. The National Weather Service’s Storm Data report identifies the street as Highway 19 C and places the report at 9:30 p.m. Central Standard Time.

A cleanup-crew restroom trailer for a cleanup base could only be placed after its approach and ground had been checked; a dry-looking property would not solve a flooded delivery route. The report came during a period of persistent heavy rain and flash flooding across central Oklahoma. Its specific local observation is the loss of the Main Street route, without a documented count of flooded Alex buildings or a recorded duration for the closure.

An outbuilding lost its roof near the water tower

A trained spotter reported that an outbuilding near Alex’s water tower lost its roof during the May 23, 2024 thunderstorms. The National Weather Service’s event log places that observation at 10:24 p.m. For a contractor repairing the building, a repair-site restroom trailer would need a position clear of the damaged structure and utility access. Delivery would follow the property owner’s approved entrance, keeping the tower’s working area clear. The spotter’s landmark helps locate the incident, but the reported damage was to the outbuilding: the log does not identify damage to the water tower itself.

Chitwood proposed replacing two compressor engines with one

DCP’s proposed modification at Chitwood Gas Plant southwest of Alex involved removing two compressor engines and installing one larger replacement. DEQ’s December 4, 2023 draft evaluation identifies a 3,550-horsepower Caterpillar engine in place of the existing 1,320- and 1,100-horsepower units, plus an inlet scrubber to collect condensed liquids.

A industrial job-site restroom trailer could be included in a contractor’s support area during an equipment change, outside the plant’s process and lifting zones. The regulator’s description gives directions from Alex via Chitwood Expressway and E1490 Road, making clear that this is an outlying industrial site. The document was a draft construction-permit evaluation; it supports the proposed scope without proving that the replacement had been installed.

Project planning questions

Alex workforce facility FAQs.

Can you review a work site outside Alex?

Yes. Send the exact Grady County address, access road, dates, and crew count. Rural entrances and ground conditions matter for delivery.

What should a highway or bridge crew share?

Start with the approved staging address, work period, shifts, expected users, and available power, water, and wastewater arrangements.

Can a farm project request sleepers and bathrooms together?

Yes. Tell us where each facility could sit, how many people would use it, and how service vehicles can reach the site.

Are these products claimed to have served the historical projects?

No. The stories document local events and work. Linked equipment is offered only as an option for current or future projects.

Funding for kennels after thirty years in the old facility

New animal-control kennels in Alex received a $45,000 award in ASCOG’s FY 2021 REAP project list, dated December 9, 2020. The short project description identified the existing facility as thirty years old. Construction support at a replacement kennel site could include a contractor restroom trailer for the trades, placed outside animal handling and delivery areas. The approved list records the new kennels as the purpose of the full $45,000 project budget and award. It supplies no opening date or kennel count. The record therefore marks a concrete funding step toward replacement, with the old facility’s age explaining why the town put the project forward.

Founders Day paired a parade with local history displays

Alex’s September 21, 2024 Founders Day program was scheduled to bring a parade, car show, live music and vendors into a four-hour community celebration. The Ranch’s advance local-news report also listed a cornhole tournament and bake-off, while historian Norman Voss prepared displays about Alex, Old Fred and the Chisholm Trail at the community center.

Public facilities need a place in a street-event layout before cars and vendor tables settle into position. A event restroom trailer could supplement the existing amenities along an approved pedestrian route, with service access kept clear of the parade.

The advance program also advertised a boutique grand opening and seasonal pumpkin and mum sales, giving visitors reasons to move between the outdoor activities and local businesses.
