A Foster post office appeared in 1891

Foster’s post office was established on August 12, 1891, and may have been named for Noah Foster, the first postmaster. The Oklahoma Historical Society treats the namesake as probable rather than certain. For a future rural-history event, a event restroom trailer could serve visitors at a present-day venue.

A small dispersed community preceded Foster’s town plat

A 1900 census record corroborates Noah Foster’s presence and a dispersed community of roughly fifty people in the area, then part of the Chickasaw Nation. The town was surveyed and platted two years later, so the census snapshot describes an earlier settlement rather than an incorporated municipality. A future community exhibit could use a shower and restroom combination trailer at a suitable public site.

The Interior Department approved Foster’s plat in 1903

Foster was surveyed and platted in October 1902, and the U.S. Department of the Interior approved the plat in 1903. That federal approval is a specific milestone in the town’s formation. If a future utility installation follows the original street grid, crews could use a contractor sleeper trailer at a separately approved staging point.

Foster organized a Masonic lodge around 1902

A Masonic lodge formed in Foster around 1902, in the same period the community was being laid out as a town. OHS describes this as an approximate date, so the milestone should not be narrowed to a specific month or ceremony. A future lodge gathering could place a restroom trailer outside its meeting site.

Foster had a public school by statehood

A public school was established in Foster by 1907, giving the rural community a local institution as it entered statehood. The source establishes that the school existed by that year, not when its doors first opened. If a future school grounds project needs temporary facilities, a shower and restroom combination trailer could serve workers at the district-approved site.

A cotton gin and hotel served Foster’s 1910 residents

By 1910, Foster had 125 residents and two general stores, a hotel, and M. G. Mullens’s cotton gin. The gin tied the town’s commercial life to the surrounding farms. A future harvest gathering might use a mobile kitchen trailer for food service while keeping agricultural loading areas open.

Three denominations had churches in Foster by 1910

Baptist, Methodist, and Episcopal churches served Foster during its early growth. Together with stores and a hotel, the congregations show how the settlement developed as a service center for nearby farms. If a future multi-congregation event uses an outdoor venue, a event restroom trailer could be staged near attendees.

Foster had a doctor and drugstore for the rural population

In 1918, Foster supported a doctor, a drug store, and four general stores while serving nearby residents engaged mainly in farming. Mullens’s cotton gin was still operating in that period. The documented services describe the rural town a century ago; a modern clinic or agricultural project could use a handwashing station station only if one is needed at an approved work area.

Foster incorporated in 2002 after a century without a town government

Foster did not incorporate during the twentieth century; it became a town on March 14, 2002, covering about sixteen square miles. That late incorporation formalized municipal status for a settlement with roots in the 1890s. A future civic open house could use a event restroom trailer near the public entrance.

Foster’s census population rose from 161 to 245

The census counted 161 Foster residents in 2010 and 245 in April 2020. Earlier OHS estimates place the population near 200 in 1920, though it notes that the town lacked census figures for much of the unincorporated twentieth century. A current event should plan a restroom trailer to its attendance instead of treating census totals as a venue count.
