Foraker’s townsite was reserved before Osage allotment

The 160-acre Foraker tract was reserved before allotment of the Osage Nation and platted under Department of the Interior supervision. Each lot was auctioned in May 1906, and buyers retained mineral rights, unlike elsewhere in the Osage Nation. A future public-history event about the townsite auction could use a event restroom trailer for visitors.

Foraker shipped 15,000 cattle in a six-month period

Agriculture helped Foraker grow before the oil boom: corn, alfalfa and wheat were principal crops, and ranching suited the surrounding area. OHS reports that 15,000 cattle were shipped from Foraker during one six-month period. A modern stock-handling project could use a ranch project restroom trailer for workers at an approved staging site; the historical shipment is not a current livestock count.

Foraker’s 1910 population reached 415

Foraker recorded its largest population in 1910, when 415 residents lived in town. The settlement was then growing as an agricultural center on the Midland Valley Railroad. A future event plan should match its actual attendance rather than the town’s historic peak; a event restroom trailer can be positioned to serve the event site.

The Burbank oil discovery revived Foraker around 1920

A decline was interrupted when the Burbank oil field was discovered about fifteen miles south of Foraker in 1920. The town’s population reached 394 that year, and its rail connection made it a petroleum supply center. The field is nearby rather than within town. A future contractor project in the area could use workforce sleeper trailer only at a suitable approved lodging site.

A ten-mile rail extension linked Foraker with Shidler in 1922

The Osage Railway was extended ten miles southwest from Foraker to Shidler in 1922. That branch connected the town to the oil-producing area as the Burbank field developed. A future rail or utility maintenance job could use a rail crew restroom trailer at its designated base, while keeping the historic branch’s operating status distinct from the documented past.

Ninety-four productive wells dotted the Foraker vicinity in 1922

During the first half of 1922, the Foraker vicinity had ninety-four productive oil and natural-gas wells. OHS reports that local businesses earned $169,000 in lumber, oil-field supply and other sales that year. These figures describe the surrounding oil district and local commerce, not wells within the town limits. A future crew base might use a oilfield crew restroom trailer after access is approved.

Foraker had sidewalks and a water system during its boom

At its height, Foraker had concrete sidewalks, a water system, two banks, stores, lumberyards, grain elevators, churches and a school. The scale of those amenities reflected a town serving both agricultural trade and oil-field distribution. For a future streetscape or utility repair, a utility crew restroom trailer could support the work crew while the town’s public routes stay open.

Three newspapers once published in Foraker

The Foraker Tribune, Foraker Free Press and Foraker Sun all published in the town during its prosperous years. The local press was one part of a busy civic center that also had fraternal organizations, two churches and a school. For a future archive exhibit, a archive event restroom trailer could serve visitors at a separate event venue.

Project planning questions

Foraker workforce facility FAQs.

Can you help plan a man camp near Foraker?

Share the project address, workforce count, schedule, and the services your crew needs. EZE Trailer Rentals will review sleeper and supporting facility options for the location.

Which supporting facilities can be planned?

The focus is sleeper accommodation with supporting shower, restroom or bathroom, and laundry facilities. The mix depends on your workforce and site requirements.

Can the facilities be coordinated as one site plan?

Yes. Share how the units need to work together, along with placement, utility, delivery access, and servicing requirements. Final configuration and availability are confirmed for the project.

What information helps plan a project in Osage County?

A project address, crew size, rooming needs, dates, access and placement details, available utilities, and the supporting services you want to include.

Rail abandonment left Foraker’s business district vacant

The Osage Railway route was abandoned in 1953, and the Midland Valley line followed in 1968. OHS says Foraker’s business district later fell vacant as the oil boom waned, large ranches developed and trucks changed livestock shipping. If a future reuse project proceeds, a adaptive reuse restroom trailer could serve its contractors at an approved property.

Actor Ben Johnson was born in Foraker country

Foraker was the birthplace of actor Ben Johnson, and the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve lies southeast of town. The preserve is a nearby regional attraction, not a town facility. A future heritage tour that combines local biography with the prairie could use a tour restroom trailer at an approved visitor gathering point.

The 2020 census counted fifteen residents in Foraker

Foraker’s population fell from 415 in 1910 to 52 in 1970 and 15 in April 2020, as the oil-era town contracted. OHS records that employment now requires commuting and that the nearest post office is in Shidler. A future project should plan facilities around its actual crew; a project restroom trailer is a practical option only if a suitable site is available.
