Checotah’s Freedom Fest schedule began well before the fireworks

Checotah’s 2025 Freedom Fest plan started with morning registration at the Sports Complex. The McIntosh County Democrat’s June 26 preview listed July 4 signups for cornhole, basketball and pickleball at 9 a.m., followed by tournaments and a children’s fishing derby.

For another all-day program, additional restroom trailers could supplement the complex’s existing bathrooms near activity areas with sustained use. That is a practical decision to make from the site map: families waiting by the pond and teams moving between courts may use different routes.

The published schedule described an event spread across several activities, not just an evening fireworks audience. Any temporary bathroom plan should cover setup and daytime use as well as the last event, with servicing kept clear of participants.

A 1872 railroad stop became Checotah

In February 1872, the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railway set a railhead at the old Texas Road in the Creek Nation. The stop was called Checote Switch for Creek Chief Samuel Checote; a later mapmaker’s spelling became Checotah. The first depot also housed a telegraph operator and the community’s post office. A future heritage event at the depot could consider a portable restroom trailer if the public site has limited facilities.

Checotah’s 1890 station was moved before demolition

The Checotah Landmark Preservation Society purchased the 1890 Missouri, Kansas and Texas station and relocated it beside US-69, US-266, and I-40. The building now serves as a tourist information center with local artifacts. Its survival gives visitors a tangible link to the town’s rail origin. A heritage gathering there could plan a portable restroom trailer only if the center’s existing facilities and visitor flow require additional capacity.

Checotah’s rodeo record includes six world champions

The Oklahoma Historical Society calls the area the Steerwrestling Capital of the World and lists six national champions who together earned eleven PRCA world titles. Ote Berry won four titles, in 1985, 1990, 1991, and 1995. The source documents the competitive record, not a particular current rodeo schedule. At a future outdoor rodeo, a portable restroom trailer could be planned by arena zone and expected attendance.

Checotah received approval for a new 500,000-gallon clearwell

In May 2024, the Oklahoma Water Resources Board approved $1.6 million in funding for Checotah water improvements. One part of the program was a new 500,000-gallon clearwell upstream of the existing one, adding system redundancy; the plan also included aeration and ventilation changes. While contractors work on a defined site, a construction restroom trailer could be placed only after the utility confirms access, water, and wastewater arrangements.

A separate Checotah grant request targeted aging waterlines

The same 2024 OWRB package set aside a second $600,000 request for replacing aging six-inch and eight-inch PVC lines in the southeast part of the system, alongside tribal and Indian Health Service funds. That is a distinct distribution-network project from the new clearwell. For crews working across dispersed streets, a portable restroom trailer may be considered at a confirmed staging location rather than moved from trench to trench.

ODOT scheduled resurfacing on US-69 between Checotah and Eufaula

In March 2024, the Oklahoma Transportation Commission approved an $8 million resurfacing project covering nearly seven miles of US-69 between Checotah and Eufaula. ODOT expected the work to begin in midsummer and take about four months, with narrowed lanes affecting lake-bound travel. The notice describes the plan at that time, not its current condition. A construction restroom trailer for roadway workers would need a permitted staging area outside the live traffic zone.

Checotah was listed for a joint public-safety and emergency center

Oklahoma Emergency Management’s February 2025 approved-project table lists a capital award for a Joint Public Safety and Emergency Operations Center in Checotah. The state record establishes approval of the project, but not a construction start or completion date. During any later authorized build, a construction restroom trailer could provide temporary facilities at the contractor’s work zone if the approved site plan and existing utilities allow it.

Project planning questions

Checotah workforce facility FAQs.

Can you help plan a man camp near Checotah?

Send us the address, dates, and number of people staying. Tell us who will share sleeping space and which portable shower, bathroom, and laundry facilities you need. We'll discuss the available layouts with you.

Can I ask for a portable bathroom or shower on its own?

Tell us which facility you need and what is already available at the property. We can review a portable restroom trailer, mobile shower, or combined unit for the job.

How do I choose a portable sleeper layout?

Start with the rooming arrangements. A crew sharing bunk space has different needs from staff who need separate rooms. The model pages show photos and published details to help you compare.

What should I send before discussing delivery?

The address, preferred dates, crew size, and a description of the entrance and available space are useful. Include what you know about power, water, and wastewater connections so we can talk through placement.

Lake Eufaula added recreation to Checotah’s local economy

The Checotah history account notes that recreation became part of the local economy after Lake Eufaula’s creation in the mid-1960s. Boat manufacturing joined trucking and ranching among the area’s economic activities. The article does not imply that the lake lies inside city limits or that any specific event needs extra facilities. At a future waterfront gathering, a portable restroom trailer could serve an approved venue if existing amenities are not enough.

Checotah’s four-block downtown entered the National Register in 1982

In 1982, the U.S. Department of the Interior added a four-block section of Checotah’s downtown to the National Register of Historic Places. The designation followed Honey Springs Battlefield’s 1970 listing and preceded several other local properties, including the Katy Depot and Old City Hall. A future heritage walk linking downtown sites could place a portable restroom trailer at an approved central stop if existing public facilities do not cover the route.
