Seven producing wells in Cameron's first gas-field year

The first successful gas well near Cameron was drilled in 1923. Six more producing wells followed before the year ended, and the Cameron Field had ten by 1930, according to the Oklahoma Historical Society. That recorded expansion provides a local industrial connection for temporary sleeper accommodation when an outside crew has an extended field assignment today.

The staffing plan would determine whether staying near the job makes sense, and whether people need shared or separate rooms. Cameron's field developed alongside a different, older industry: the town history also records coal mining and the Williams Coal Company's 1913 mine lease. The wells and coal lease are distinct stages in the industrial development recorded near this Le Flore County community.

The first Cameron rail bed was laid in 1886–87

The Fort Smith and Southern Railway laid track through the Cameron area in 1886–87; the Frisco later acquired and completed the line. Rail access shaped the settlement before the post office opened. For a future rail-side repair assignment, 14-foot restroom trailer could give contractors a facility at an approved base away from passenger or freight operations.

Cameron’s post office opened in 1888

A post office opened in Cameron in 1888, giving the growing settlement a formal link to surrounding communities. The town's recorded name origin is disputed, so the safer story is the dated postal record rather than an unverified namesake. If a future public-building repair temporarily limits staff access, 12-foot restroom trailer can be considered for the contractor area.

Cameron Institute opened to students in 1893

The Cameron Institute began in 1893 as a school serving students across denominational lines. It continued into the early 1900s, when local education depended on institutions much smaller than today's consolidated districts. A future campus construction phase could use contractor sleeper trailer for workers assigned to an isolated work zone, with the school deciding where deliveries and utilities fit.

Cameron hosted a judicial district court beginning in 1895

Cameron became a judicial district court site in 1895, drawing civic business to the community. The court moved to Poteau in 1900, a short chapter that illustrates how regional institutions could shift between towns. If a future courthouse or civic-center renovation disrupted a work area, 14-foot restroom trailer could support crews without making visitors cross the construction boundary.

James Reynolds built the Cameron-area stone house known as the Castle

Rancher James Reynolds built the substantial stone house later known as the Castle near Cameron. It was listed on the National Register in 1977. The building is a preservation story as well as a ranching one; if conservation work were planned there, portable handwashing station could keep temporary wash facilities outside the historic structure.

A coal lease added a new resource to Cameron’s economy in 1913

A coal lease appeared in Cameron's local history in 1913, adding another resource industry to a town already connected to ranching and farm trade. The record does not identify a modern mine or current extraction. For a future permitted site investigation, 22-foot shower trailer could be evaluated only after the contractor confirms water supply, waste handling, and land access.

Cameron’s namesake remains uncertain in the town record

The Oklahoma Historical Society records competing explanations for Cameron's name, associating it either with William Cameron or James Cameron. Because the source does not settle the question, the town's history preserves that uncertainty. A future local-history exhibit could use office and sleeper trailer as a separate staging room while researchers prepare maps and photographs.

Project planning questions

Cameron workforce facility FAQs.

Can you help plan a man camp near Cameron?

Send us the address, dates, and number of people staying. Tell us who will share sleeping space and which portable shower, bathroom, and laundry facilities you need. We'll discuss the available layouts with you.

Can I ask for a portable bathroom or shower on its own?

Tell us which facility you need and what is already available at the property. We can review a portable restroom trailer, mobile shower, or combined unit for the job.

How do I choose a portable sleeper layout?

Start with the rooming arrangements. A crew sharing bunk space has different needs from staff who need separate rooms. The model pages show photos and published details to help you compare.

What should I send before discussing delivery?

The address, preferred dates, crew size, and a description of the entrance and available space are useful. Include what you know about power, water, and wastewater connections so we can talk through placement.

Rail service through Cameron ended in 1980

The rail line that helped establish Cameron was abandoned in 1980. That change followed the railway's central role in the town's early growth and altered how local freight moved. For a present-day road or utility project taking over a former corridor, 24-foot mobile laundry trailer could be considered when a work crew is stationed for an extended shift rotation.

Cotton and livestock kept Cameron tied to the surrounding farms

Cameron's early business life included cotton and livestock trade, linking the town to farms and ranches across the area. Later coal and gas activity added to that base rather than erasing its agricultural connections. For a future repair at an agricultural facility, portable handwashing station could give workers a dedicated hand-cleaning point if the operator approves the service plan.
