A new chapter at ECU’s Dan Hays STEM Center

At North Francis Avenue and East Ninth Street, East Central University opened the 64,000-square-foot Dan Hays STEM Center for the fall 2026 semester. Nursing, mathematics and computer science moved there from Science Hall, the campus building completed in 1910. ECU’s September 9 account traces the project from its June 2024 groundbreaking to that move.

An occupied campus makes construction logistics unusually visible: students still need routes to class while deliveries and contractors need space of their own. On a comparable campus project, a construction restroom trailer inside the approved contractor compound can keep workers’ bathroom trips within that work area. Its position needs to be settled with the campus before gates, storage and delivery paths consume the available space.

The center’s name also connects the new construction to Ada’s beginnings as a college town. Dan Hays donated the original 16-acre school site in 1909; the new teaching facilities carry that contribution into another generation.

North Mississippi Avenue was part of Ada’s airport-side development bid

Ada’s 2026 Airport East Side Industrial Development invitation described about 7,640 feet of Mississippi Avenue from Lonnie Abbott Boulevard to Tower Road. Pavement removal, a new alignment, drainage, sidewalk ramps and water and sewer installation were combined in one prime contract. A work-site restroom trailer serving such a road-and-utility crew needs a staging location that remains reachable as the phases change; ground beside the old pavement may later be needed for drainage or the new roadway. The invitation allowed 180 calendar days for substantial completion and 210 for final completion after the contract clock began. Those were bidding terms, not a claim that construction had already finished. They show the extent of the work behind preparing the airport’s east side for industrial use.

Ada’s 2025 utility work included pipe bursting beneath the streets

Ada recorded twenty-one water-main breaks repaired and 313 leak repairs during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. Its annual financial report also lists 5,877 feet of sanitary sewer rehabilitated by pipe bursting. These are completed maintenance totals across the city, rather than a claim that every street was dug up at once.

A business preparing for a particular connection can consider a temporary bathroom trailer when its own bathrooms will be unavailable. The arrangement has to follow that building’s actual water and sewer isolation, with collection or discharge independent of the pipe under repair. The annual totals explain the scale of the maintenance program; the utility’s job-specific schedule tells a business when a temporary bathroom would actually be useful.

Ada reported resurfacing its entire airport runway in 2025

Ada’s fiscal 2025 report records asphalt milling and overlay across the entire regional-airport runway. A crew restroom trailer for a comparable paving crew would be positioned in the contractor’s approved compound, with delivery coordinated outside the airport’s operational areas. That keeps everyday facilities separate from the strip being resurfaced.

The city lists the work among achievements of the year ending June 30, 2025. Unlike a street project, runway work takes place in a setting where the airport controls routes for people, vehicles and equipment. The facilities plan therefore has to be agreed with the airport alongside the paving plan. The record does not establish an overnight shift pattern; accommodation would follow a visiting crew’s actual roster rather than be assumed from the airport location.

Keeping Ada’s shops open during the Main Street rebuild

Crossland Heavy Contractors says keeping businesses open was a priority during Ada’s completed $7.5 million Main Street streetscape project. That same access requirement governs where a contractor restroom trailer could sit during future downtown work: the shortest delivery space is unsuitable if it blocks the route into a shop. The builder’s account lists new sidewalks, traffic signals, lighting, brick paving, landscaping and curbs, with benches and a fountain in the finished downtown. A crew’s temporary facilities would be agreed with the property owner and city before barriers and stored materials fill the curbside. The documented project combined substantial construction with continuing trade, leaving the public a way to reach the businesses behind the work.

Main Street closed for assessment after Ada’s March 2025 tornado

After the March 4, 2025 tornado, Ada officials asked people to stay out of Main Street while emergency teams and construction crews assessed the damage. A temporary workforce camp considered for an extended recovery team would belong at a cleared support property outside that restricted area, preserving access for assessment and debris removal.

KXII reported broken windows, missing roofs and damage to trees and power and gas lines. Residential streets including Cherry and Oak were also affected. Businesses and homes therefore needed attention at the same time. A response base has to be planned around work coordinated across the city, rather than occupying the nearest empty-looking lot. Accommodation can reduce a visiting team’s travel only when the base itself remains reachable and its everyday facilities are usable.

Ada’s April tornado crossed a different part of town

The April 19, 2025 tornado began near North Broadway Avenue and the northwest J. A. Richardson Loop, according to the National Weather Service. It damaged homes along Cottage Street, a hotel on the Loop and businesses at North Hills Shopping Center before moving northeast. The survey rated it EF1.

KXII reported that the Red Cross opened a shelter at the Ada Arts and Heritage Center. In a response serving displaced households, temporary shower facilities could supplement a designated support site if the coordinator identifies a washing need and confirms the water and waste arrangements. That decision follows the people and usable buildings available, rather than the tornado’s map alone.

This was the second tornado to strike Ada that spring, with a northern route distinct from the March damage through the central city.

A 65,000-square-foot sports building entered Ada’s capital plan

Ada’s fiscal 2025 report lists a planned 65,000-square-foot multipurpose building at the Sports Complex under the renewed Penny for Our City sales tax. Basketball courts, an indoor walking track, exercise rooms and a golf simulator were among the proposed indoor uses, alongside outdoor recreation improvements.

That is a capital-planning milestone, with the proposed building adding a different set of activities to an established sports site. It does not establish an opening date or that the new spaces were already serving visitors.

Where construction proceeds beside authorized sports activities, a restroom trailer for the builders needs a route that stays out of spectator and team movements. Putting that boundary on the site plan helps the contractor and parks department keep their respective activities organized around the same grounds.

Project planning questions

Can I rent a portable bathroom or shower by itself?

Yes. Tell us what facilities the site already has and how many people will use the temporary unit. We can discuss a restroom trailer, shower trailer, or combination.

What details help confirm delivery to an Ada site?

The project address, preferred dates, access width, space for the unit and service vehicle, and available water, power, and wastewater connections are a good place to start.

An evening on the grass at Wintersmith Park in July 2025

The July 4, 2025 fireworks listing for Wintersmith Park invited Ada families to bring a blanket or lawn chair and find a viewing spot. KGOU’s calendar placed the evening event at the park on South Scenic Drive, with fireworks starting at dusk.

An evening on the grass spreads visitors beyond a building’s immediate entrance. If the organizer chooses a event restroom trailer to supplement the park bathrooms, the route to it needs to remain clear and easy to find after daylight fades. Service and collection should fit the agreed event hours. The dated invitation describes a family gathering built around settling in to watch the display, which makes bathroom access part of the viewing-area layout as well as the arrival arrangements.

Glass recycling joined the music at Ada’s first Farmers Fest

At Ada’s first Farmers Fest on July 12, 2025, glass recycling shared the morning with food and music. Ada Sunrise Rotary’s recap places the event at the Farmers Market on 12th and Townsend, with ECU Glass Recycling and The Oka’ Institute among the partners. In that compact layout, a portable restroom trailer would need a customer entrance clear of the recycling drop-off and food-truck movements, agreed before vendors take their spaces. The recap names The Steppers as the musical act and Mendoza’s Tacos and Jurassic Ice among the food trucks, with inflatables and children’s games completing the program. Those details describe a particular gathering at Ada’s market, with local organizations offering something to do as well as something to buy.
